FROM THE EDITOR
I fell in love with fishing at a very
young age.  I remember how
exciting it was back then to pick
up a cane pole, toss on a worm
and catch brim one after another.
   My mother introduced me into
cat-fishing.  We would sit on the
banks of our favorite
lake, as
shinny bells rang, notifying us of
channel cats ready for a fight.  We
obliged them accordingly and
shared some of my favorite
fishing childhood memories.
One day my father told me that he
and I  were going fishing in the
morning.  I was so excited that I
hardly slept that night.  We got up
at the crack of dawn, had a small
snack, and proceeded to a
hidden spot that he knew as a
child.   Instead of the usual
fishing gear, my dad introduced
me to a hard artificial bait, called
a tiny torpedo.  I was puzzled
when he attached this weird
looking bullet to my line and
began to show me how to cast it
out.   So I cast it like he showed
me and let it plop on the water
until all the waves subsided.  As I
jerked, the biggest splash I had
ever seen erupted so hard
around that lure, that I forgot what
I had learned and just stared in
shock... Needless to say he got
away, but the bass bug caught
me!
