It was rainy and a little cool, but the water was calm and smooth and ready for some top-water action. I tied on a tiny torpedo and proceeded to hit the high grass areas of the lake middle, when this monster ambushed my lure. He grabbed it and immediately took it to the bottom and through the thick vegetation where my line and pole selection paid off as I muscled him out and into the boat, after a brief fight. He weighed in at six pounds even and is the largest I've caught so far this season. This FT. Lewis lake, in WA, is teaming with monsters averaging this size and bigger. The bass fishing is great and tenacity surely pays off in the long run.
