I caught this whopper in Hoodsport Bay WA, using a 18'' leader with a floaty. I had just tuned my Penn reel and Ugly Stick combo the day prior in hopes of catching a monster. The day started off rainy and the temperature sat at about 44 degrees. Other anglers hadn't been fairing well that day, but I felt that all that was about to change. I felt that all that was about to change. I cast out several times until I felt a huge strike. He challenged me plenty as I slipped and fell into the water but struggled to my feet and continued to chase him down the bank. Seven in a half minutes later, I had him bagged. What you see before you is the epitome of the never give up attitude.
